Kyrgyzstan Launches Anti-Smoking Movement: Proposed Regulations and Measures

Kyrgyzstan is launching an anti-smoking movement, proposing new regulations to ban smoking in public places and protect minors.

According to Tazabek, a media outlet in Kyrgyzstan, a “anti-smoking” movement is sweeping the country. Members of parliament, Ormonov U.Z., Sydykov B.U., Satybaldiev E.R., and Tumonbayev A.T., have jointly submitted a proposal to amend various regulations.

According to the information provided by Vinera Rayimbachayeva, the chair of the Social Policy Committee, a new legislation proposed to ban smoking in public places in order to protect citizens from the effects of tobacco, nicotine, and environmental tobacco smoke and aerosols.

Furthermore, this proposal also plans to establish clear regulations and penalties for providing tobacco products to children and minors under the age of 16, in order to protect them from the harms of tobacco.
