Canada’s CVA Calls for Reconsideration of E-Cigarette Tax Proposal

The Canadian Vaping Association warns that Ontario’s plan to increase taxes on e-cigarettes may lead to a rise in illegal products and unemployment.

According to a report by the Canadian media outlet StreetInsider on November 6th, 2022, the Canadian federal government has invited provinces to impose a consumption tax on nicotine vapor products. Ontario province intends to reach an agreement on this product as soon as possible. In response, the Canadian Vaping Association (CVA) is urging the federal government to reconsider its proposal for provincial taxes.

The CVA warns that Ontario’s decision to raise the consumption tax could potentially drive consumers to seek cheaper illegal products, leading to an expansion of the black market. This, in turn, would result in the closure of numerous legal businesses, resulting in a rise in unemployment rates within society.
